This piece revisits the source of a photo/text exhibition I made in 1998, entitled 'Unit3', which was photographed in Merlin Park Hospital, Galway, in the ward where my father died. It uses the visual conceit of animation in an attempt to re-animate the still images with movement and sound, to forcefully return life to a site of death. This ultimately futile gesture is presented as a journey through images and sounds. The failure of this process is welcomed as a release. The piece locates itself in the residual anxieties of bereavement and in the agitated confusion of fading pain. Animated-Video on DVD (Pal) Duration: 2 mins 30
